Monitoring Joint Structure

Structural soundness is the foundation of a healthy, active Boxer. Through precise X-ray screening of hips, elbows, and spine, we ensure that our breeding program prioritizes longevity and physical performance, reducing the risk of debilitating orthopedic conditions.

Screening Results & Outcomes

Hip Dysplasia

Radiographic evaluation of hip joint conformation. Grades range from Excellent to Severely Dysplastic, assessing joint laxity and structural integrity.

Target: Excellent / Good / Fair

Elbow Dysplasia

Assesses the presence of abnormal development or degenerative joint disease. Screening aims to identify clear joints with no evidence of DJD.

Target: Normal (Clear)

Spondylosis

Early-onset spondylosis is an ailment observed in specific Boxers characterized by the formation of osteophytes along the spinal column during youth. Due to a recognized genetic link within the breed, these skeletal variations often appear in diagnostic imaging prior to the emergence of outward symptoms. It is important to note that slight X-ray abnormalities do not automatically equate to physical distress or future impairment; indeed, a significant number of these dogs lead vigorous, pain-free lives and stay fully mobile and comfortable throughout their lives.

Target: Clear/Minimal

Because several of our dogs are direct imports from Europe, they already have extensive testing.

Instead of an 'Excellent', 'Good', or 'Fair', our European imports are rated "A" or "B".
